Surgery - Cardiothoracic

VeloSource has a Cardiothoracic Surgery APP Opportunity - Madison, WI

• Credential Accepted: PA
• PA's typical day: Collaborate with Cardiothoracic surgeon for examining patients, formulating diagnosis, and developing a treatment plan for patients, performing technical, clinical and surgical procedures, documenting patient progress and surgical care.
• Procedures: Performs greater saphenous vein harvests and radial artery harvests, place and remove chest tubes and catheters, intubate and extubate patients and place and remove central lines and arterial lines.
• May also write prescriptions and medical orders.
• Schedule: Mon-Fri with rotating primary hours of 7a-5p in addition to call responsibilities rotating during the week and weekend. 
• Call expectations: roughly 1:5, for both weekdays and weekends. Weekday call typically starts around 12pm and goes through 7am the following day. Weekend coverage is Friday 7am-Monday 7am.  
• Call coverage entails both OR coverage and floor phone calls/management. Minimal outpatient/clinic responsibilities. 
• Responsibilities: CT surgery OR experience including endo-harvesting of vein and radial arteries, first assisting, as well as postoperative management and consults. 
• Current Staff: 4 surgeons, 6 inpatient PAs, 1 clinic-based NP and 2 nurses.
