Founder & CEO
Patrick Donovan
Patrick established himself in the healthcare staffing industry in 1989 and held multiple leadership roles over the lifetime of his career. He founded staffing companies including Linde Healthcare and also acted as CEO for other organizations. Patrick and Jeff share a vision of employee empowerment and mission-oriented service which led to co-founding VeloSource in 2015. The company has grown to be a top performer in Locum Tenens. Patrick was honored to serve on the original board of the National Association of Locum Tenens Organization and later served as President of this trade association in 2008.
Patrick has been married to his wife Deborah for over 30 years and enjoys spending time with their daughter, traveling, and boating.
Founder and President
Jeff Schaal
Jeff is a co-founder of VeloSource. With more than twenty-three years in the locum tenens industry and a competitive entrepreneurial spirit, Jeff wanted to create a platform company that would compete and dominate in the current locum arena. His passion continues today, ensuring VeloSource is a true partner for clients and providers alike, but also to provide an internal environment that is sought after, where employees are valued.
Away from work, he enjoys many outdoor activities with his wonderful wife and two kids; he can often be found coaching on the soccer/baseball fields or in the stands at the hockey rink.
Executive Vice President
John S. Daniel
John brings years of locum tenens leadership experience to VeloSource. He began his career in this industry at the desk level in 1983. In 1989, he cofounded his first locum company, Daniel and Yeager (D&Y Staffing). Under John’s leadership while at D&Y, he cofounded and started TeamHealth, now one of the largest national contract management companies in the US, and served on their Board of Directors. John served as a charter member of NALTO and drafted the original Code of Ethics. He sat on both the Boards for NALTO and NAPR and is the only person to serve as President of both organizations.
John loves spending time at the beach and being with family and friends. John resides in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and has one daughter and they are both die-hard Alabama fans.
Vice President of Administrative Operations
Donna Mell
A dynamic and enthusiastic leader, Donna has spent the better part of eleven years in fast-paced executive and administrative management roles. She has a proven track record of exceeding goal-based metrics through client-focused and detail-oriented training techniques. Donna has been essential to VeloSource’s growth strategy while implementing precise operating procedures. She thoroughly believes in the power of a forward-thinking mindset.
Donna has always enjoyed spending time outdoors, with her family, and watching her son experience the many facets of life since becoming a new mother.

Melissa Byington
Melissa Byington, CEO of Synchronized Solutions and VeloSource board member is a veteran in the healthcare staffing industry, with a career spanning more than 25 years. Her career in staffing began as a physician recruiter, which lead to future leadership roles including President of CompHealth, Group President, of CHG Healthcare, Chief Sales Officer at Supplemental Healthcare, and President of the National Association of LocumTenens Organizations.
Over the years, Melissa has been recognized by publications inside and outside of healthcare. She was named one of Utah Business magazine’s 30 Women to Watch and has been included on Staffing Industry Analyst’s Staffing 100 and Global Power 100 Women in Staffing lists multiple times. In addition to her role at Synchronized Solutions, Melissa serves as a board member and advisor to several healthcare staffing agencies and is a member of the board of trustees for National Crittenton.
Vice President of Strategic Accounts
Scott Pliske
Scott is Vice President of Strategic Accounts at VeloSource. He began with VeloSource in 2019 and has nine years of experience in Healthcare Staffing. His role is to support all efforts related to MSP/VMS and the development of our clients. Scott has a tremendous temperament, a just-get-it-done work ethic, and a great ability to partner effectively with all business partners. Scott believes in building strong client relationships that create a partnership for shared success.
Outside of work, Scott loves spending time at the lake and the family farm, as well as attending his two amazing daughter’s sporting events with his wife.
Vice President, Credentialing & Licensure
Christina Marks
With over 10 years of credentialing experience in the Locums industry, Christina Marks, has been an integral part of healthcare management at VeloSource since joining in 2016. Focused on privileging and licensure, her proactive approach is evident in her consistent proposal of innovative action plans, ensuring VeloSource remains ahead of the curve. Christina is dedicated to optimizing timelines and achieving the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders. She takes immense pride in the credentialing team she’s helped create, empowering them to harness their collective expertise.
When Christina’s away from work, you can catch her being the hype Mom in the stands, right there with her husband, cheering on her 2 teenage sons in football, baseball, and basketball with all the flair.
Vice President, Risk & Quality Assurance
Kelly Hetterman
Kelly has over twenty years of experience in the locum tenens industry that has spanned both private and public companies. She has held diverse roles including Risk Manager, Director of Risk and Credentialing, and now Vice-President of Risk Management.
Kelly has spent an entire career assisting companies in maintaining the highest quality of locum tenens candidates, both at the desk level and in leadership roles. Her leadership has always been instrumental for companies regarding risk tolerance, contract negotiations, customer service, and her ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. She maintains all requirements about malpractice insurance: acquisition, regulations, renewals, and internal guidance.
Kelly holds degrees in Occupational Therapy and Health Information Management from St. Louis University.
Senior Director of Recruitment
Madison Morgan
A native of St. Louis, Madison began her healthcare staffing career at VeloSource and in just three years has risen to take her place on the organization’s Executive Team. She serves as the Senior Director of Recruitment, a role she leads by example as a top producer, coupled with her commitment to teaching young recruiters the recipe that has enabled her to be successful.
Madison’s passion for business and competitive spirit is infectious. She is instrumental in the recruitment team staying on goal, while also constantly taking the opportunity to recognize the contributions of others. Madison leads from the front, always first to stand up to new challenges, in addition to embracing the responsibility that comes with having such an enormous impact on the pulse and spirit of all staff.
Madison is an animal lover and enjoys live music and traveling. She also volunteers for the Special Olympics, and local philanthropic partners of VeloSource, including charities such as Butterfly Haven and Every Child's Hope.
