We recently sat down with VeloSource's Kallie Kassing in a Q&A session to learn more about the Quality Assurance Analyst.
What or who originally brought you to discover and work at VeloSource?
I was in the market for a new job on LinkedIn. Jeff found me and contacted me about VeloSource. From our first phone call, I was hooked! Everything I had been looking for in previous employment that had been missing was at the forefront of VeloSource—prioritizing everyone as an individual, a family atmosphere and values, transparency, and more.
Before working for us, did you have any experience in healthcare or know anything about the medical staffing industry?

My bachelor’s degree is in Psychology. I had worked for a local hospital in their acute psychiatric ward for a little under a year, but that is my only professional experience in the healthcare industry. I had interviewed for staffing positions, but never found one that I felt fit what I was looking for. I had thought about getting into nursing in my early college days, but that ultimately did not work out. After choosing to go in a different direction, I never gave much thought to being back in the healthcare industry, but I am glad that life led me to VeloSource.
For those unfamiliar with the inner workings of a company such as ours, what role do you play on the Operations side of our business? How does that fit within the overall physician recruitment process and support those in production or account management roles?
I always say I am the “first line of defense” in the locums process. I take the candidates who have interviewed and fact-check what information they have shared. I review their CVs, looking at education and work history, as well as reviewing any red flags the candidate may have. After reviewing, that is when my department decides whether this candidate is someone we can work with or someone we may pass on. My job allows Velosource to bring on quality candidates to the table that our clients cannot pass up. Without QA/Risk, I do not think we would have the long-standing relationships we have with both our clients and our candidates. It shows how much retention we have on both sides.
What are your passions in life? How do you like to spend your free time?

My first passion is my pets. Since my husband and I made the decision not to have children, my pets are my fur children. I have one dog, Brooklyn (my soulmate), and two cats, CJ and Chet.

After my children, it’s being outdoors. My husband and I are avid hikers, kayakers, and campers. We love traveling in the US, and our top bucket list item is seeing every National Park in the US. Our top favorites so far are Zion National Park and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. If you have never been, I highly recommend it.
Where would you like to be in 10 or 20 years? Personally and/or professionally, do you have any specific goals you want to achieve, or where do you see yourself?
Still here at Velosource, I am amazed by how much growth has come out of our success as a leading locums tenens company. I told Jeff the day he interviewed me that I wanted to be here until I retire, not knowing how realistic that would be on that day. After being with the company for four wonderful years, each passing year has only deepened my love for my job, the people I work with, and this company. I am sure my friends and family get tired of hearing how much I love my job, but VeloSource makes it easy to love my job.
I am excited to see VeloSource continue to grow over the next 10-20 years. I am excited to see growth in my department and move up the ladder into management. I have an amazing mentor, Kelly, who has trained me to be just as successful in this position as she is. I am hopeful that one day I can train people to be as successful as she has taught me to be.
Of course, I am also excited to see VeloSource continue to grow. I cannot wait for the day when we are of the top five leading locum tenens companies in the US. I truly believe this is more than obtainable. The growth this company has made in the time I have been here is remarkable.
In an ultra-competitive industry like healthcare staffing, what makes VeloSource different?
The atmosphere that VeloSource provides is unique. A lot of companies talk the talk, but do not walk the walk. VeloSource does. Every employee who has the pleasure of working for VeloSource is considered family. We are all here for each other, both inside and outside of our day-to-day. We support each other, help each other when needed, and want nothing but to see success in everyone. It shows in the open communication and ease of co-working with every employee.
Do you donate time to any non-profit organizations or support certain causes in addition to our public service efforts as a company?
I engage in every single volunteer opportunity that VeloSource offers. Additionally, I volunteer at a local horse rescue in Edwardsville, IL called Happy Hooves Equine Rescue. I grew up loving horses, and it's my simple way of getting to spend time with an animal I love and feel I am doing my part to make their lives better and happier.
Why do you think VeloSource has such a high number of referrals between trusted providers or clients?
In all seriousness, I think it’s the value that VeloSource holds in its employees. This is both directly and indirectly seen by candidates and clients in our work ethic. We want every candidate we speak with to become successful. We want our clients not only to have met their needs, but to exceed the expectations of our clients by placing quality candidates. If you love your job, it reflects in your work. It's that simple here at VeloSource. They make it easy to want to be here, to want to show up for work, and it allows for internal success among our employees as well. If you are happy, you want others to be happy. VeloSource makes people happy.
